Rudy Wallang is one of the foremost Blues Guitar Players and Songwriters in India. He was born into an illustrious family of musicians and songwriters but Rudy has lived up to this lineage and more by being the driving force behind some of the most influential bands in India like Great Society, Mojo and of course, Soulmate. Rudy Wallang has been in the music business for over 40 years and played in countless concerts all over the world. He also has more than 70 albums as an arranger, composer and producer for local artistes.
Rudy has played at 8 editions of Asia’s biggest International Blues festival “The Mahindra Blues Festival” with his band Soulmate and where in the band’s honour, the festival organisers have dedicated a stage in their name – The Soul-Strat Stage. In 2009, he was awarded The Jack Daniels Music Awards for being the Best Guitar Player in India
Rudy has shared the stage with prominent artists like Carlos Santana, Buddy Guy, Keb Mo, Joss Stone, John Mayall, Taj Mahal and Gary Clark Jr. among others. His contribution to western music in Meghalaya and India is immeasurable.
