B. B. Lyngdoh
Born on February 2, 1922, to Ajra Singh and Nerimai Lyngdoh at Laitlyngkot village, Brington Buhai Lyngdoh, was a lawyer before his entry into politics. He was a member of the APHLC and contested in the first Meghalaya Legislative Assembly elections from Nongthymmai constituency which he won. He ended up becoming one of the longest serving Chief Ministers of Meghalaya.

B. M. Pugh
Bransley Marpna Pugh was born on 24 September 1897 at the Laitkynsiew village. Pugh was the C.E.M of the United Khasi Jaintia Hills District Council during his time and thereafter mediated meetings for APHLC as its first president.

Binsing R Marak
Binsing R Marak was born on October 31st 1922. He joined political struggle in 1947 at the young age of 23 years by joining the Garo National Council. He was the MDC in GHADC for 27 years and held position of Executive Member (EM), Deputy EM and even CEM

Brojendra Sangma
Member of the APHLC and contested in the first Meghalaya Legislative Assembly elections from Dambuk Aga constituency which he won.

D. D. Pugh
Member of the APHLC and contested in the first Meghalaya Legislative Assembly elections from Nongshken constituency which he won.

Edwinson Bareh
Edwinson Bareh was a member of Non Violent Direct Action (NVDA) and was one of its main organisers. He was also a member of the APHLC and contested in the first Meghalaya Legislative Assembly elections from Nartiang constituency which he won.

Elwin Sangma
Member of the APHLC and contested in the first Meghalaya Legislative Assembly elections from Songsak constituency which he won.

G. G. Swell
Gorge Gilbert Swell was born on 5th August 1923. He was a college professor before taking part in the Statehood Movement. He was elected to the Lok Sabha from the Autonomous Districts (Lok Sabha) constituency in 1962, 1967 and 1971. He was the Deputy Speaker of the Lok Sabha from 9 December 1969 to 27 December 1970 in the 4th Lok Sabha.

Galynstone Laloo
Member of the APHLC and contested in the first Meghalaya Legislative Assembly elections from Lyngkyrdem constituency which he won.

Grahonsingh Marak
Member of the APHLC and contested in the first Meghalaya Legislative Assembly elections from Bajengdoba constituency which he won.

Hoover Hynniewta
He led the Black Flag protests for the Khasi Student Association and was an active voice for the youth movement during the fight for statehood. In the 1967 Assam Legislative Assembly he contested as a candidate from All Party Hill Leaders Conference (APHLC) and won from the Shillong Constituency. He contested the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly elections as a Hill State People's Democratic Party (HSPDP) candidate and won from the Nongkhlaw constituency. The first MP for the Lok Sabha from the hill states.

Humphry Nongrum
Member of the APHLC and contested in the first Meghalaya Legislative Assembly elections from Langrin constituency which he won.

Ira Marak
Member of the APHLC and in the first Meghalaya Legislative Assembly elections stood uncontested from Dalamgiri constituency.

Jackman Marak
Member of the APHLC and contested in the first Meghalaya Legislative Assembly elections from Chokpot constituency which he won.

Jormanik Syiem
Member of the APHLC and contested in the first Meghalaya Legislative Assembly elections from Mylliem constituency which he won.

Martin Narayan Majaw
Martin N Majaw was a youth leader during the statehood movement. Later on, he became a member of Eastern India Tribal Union (EITU). He contested the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly elections as a Hill State People's Democratic Party (HSPDP) candidate and won from the Mawhati Constituency

Mody K Marak
He was the first president of the Garo National Conference (GNC) which would later lend support to the Statehood Movement. He was an important member of the GNC and along with Capt. W.A. Sangma was able to push the fight for statehood. In the 1967 Assam Legislative Assembly he contested as a candidate from All Party Hill Leaders Conference (APHLC) and won from the Dainadubi Constituency.

P. R. Kyndiah
Paty Ripple Kyndiah was born on 7th May 1928. He was an active politician. P. R. Kyndiah was the designated Central Chief Organizer of the Non Violent Direct Action (NVDA) Volunteers. He contested in the first Meghalaya Legislative Assembly elections from Jawai constituency which he won.

Percylina Marak
Member of the APHLC and contested in the first Meghalaya Legislative Assembly elections from Rongram constituency which she won. She was the only woman elected.

Plansingh Marak
Member of the APHLC and contested in the first Meghalaya Legislative Assembly elections from Kherapara constituency which he won.

Radhon Singh Lyngdoh
Member of the APHLC and contested in the first Meghalaya Legislative Assembly elections from Nongkrem constituency which he won.

S. P. Swer
Member of the APHLC and contested in the first Meghalaya Legislative Assembly elections from Sohra constituency which he won.

Sanford Marak
Member of the APHLC and contested in the first Meghalaya Legislative Assembly elections from Rangsakona constituency which he won.

Stanley Nichols Roy
He was the general secretary of the All Party Hill Leaders’ Conference (APHLC). He contested in the first Meghalaya Legislative Assembly elections from Shella constituency which he won.

W. A. Sangma
Capt. W.A. Sangma was born in Baghmara, South Garo Hills district. With prior military service, he entered political field in 1952, and subsequently was elected as the Chief executive member of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council(GHADC). He being the first Chief executive member of Garo Hills Autonomous District Council(GHADC), called a conference of the people of the autonomous hill districts at Tura on 6–8 October 1954, to consider the demand of a hill state. His role in the Hill State Movement was pivotal with the introduction and merger of EITU which became APHLC. In the first Meghalaya Legislative Assembly elections after statehood he stood uncontested from Siju constituency. W.A. Sangma of APHLC was sworn in as Meghalaya’s first Chief Minister with majority.

Wilson Reade
Born in 1878. He held the post of Administrative Officer between 1936 to 1946 for Hima Mylliem, Hima Mawphlang and Hima Sohra. He was the chairman of the Khasi National Durbar and became a member of the United Khasi Jaintia District Council in 1958. He was a member of the EITU and subsequently the APHLC. He contested the 1962 elections which he won and immediately resigned as a show of solidarity among fellow APHLC members in the fight for Statehood. Other than the Hill State Movement he is also known for being an educator and advocate for the same in Meghalaya.

Albinstone M. Sangma
Albinstone Sangma was a close aide of Capt. Williamson Sangma. He was in charge of the recruitment and training of the Non Violent Direct Action (NVDA) volunteers in Garo Hills. He later served the Meghalaya Government as a Member (MDC) of Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) and Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Baghmara
Constituency.

Hopingstone Lyngdoh
Hoping Stone Lyngdoh was born at Nonglait Village, West Khasi Hills District on March 15, 1929. He was an agriculturist, school teacher and social worker. He was the president of the Hill State People's Democratic Party, previously associated with the Eastern India Tribal Union. He was also a member of United Khasi Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council, 1957 to 1972, also member of the Assam Legislative Assembly (1962—68) and the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly (1972—2015)

Sanford Marak
Sanford Marak was born on June 28th 1934, at Tura. Prior to joining politics, he was a teacher.

Standlington D. Khongwir
Standlington D. Khongwir (born 1934) was the Deputy Secretary of the Khasi Hills District Council. He was an elected member of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly simultaneously in 1972 and 1978. Inducted as Deputy Chief Minister in both the coalition Ministries lead by D.D. Pugh and B. B. Lyngdoh.

Peter G. Marbaniang
Peter G. Marbaniang was born on 1st August 1939. He was a member of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly between 1972 and 1983. He served as a minister in the State government from 1975 to 1983.
