The Government of Meghalaya through the Directorate of Information and Public Relations, along with the Northeast India AV Archive, St. Anthony’s College have created the ‘Memory Crate’, time capsule.
A time capsule is a historic cache of goods or information to hold records that capture key moments in history, which promise to benefit our future generations.
The Memory Crate was closed after the Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister, Shri. Prestone Tynsong had placed his letter inside it.
The Memory Crate contains photographs, illustrations, souvenirs, magazines, books, maps and letters from citizens. It will be locked from the 21st of January 2022 and opened 50 years from now i.e., 21st January 2072. When reopened, the contents in the memory crate will serve as a yardstick for the aspirations and development of the state.
Additionally, the Memory crate is being locked using a traditional lock made in Mylliem Village.
